There are several ways you can submit your taxes. You can use the paper forms from the post office, you can hire an accountant or tax company to do it for you, or you can do it yourself for free online. This is called e-file and several companies have agreed to file taxes online for free for certain taxpayers, depending on income restrictions and sometimes age restrictions. Go to the IRS website to find some companies that will e-file for free.
You do not have to pay to submit your state taxes, that can be done for free at the California Taxes Website. Don't put it off too long or both governments will start to charge you fees and interest.
