If they don't help us, why do we feed them?

Have you ever wondered how the lion, tiger and saber-tooth became the mild mannered fur ball that cuddles up against your leg? Unlike the dog, cats do not help us hunt for things or protect us from thing hunting us. So why did humans domesticate them? Scientific American wants to tell you the answers to these and other burning questions about the felines in our midst.

Now, when they can evolve to not create an allergic reaction, I will finally be able to get one.

Check out the article here.

Welcome to Summer Semester

For those of you who love getting classes done quick, this is the semester for you. Yes, your classes are longer and you have to meet more days, but in a lot fewer weeks, you do the same amount of work and you are one (or two or three) classes closer to graduation. Or a sweet transfer transcript.

Words of wisdom from First Ladies

Our Presidents have a great impact on the direction of the country. But I think that very often the First Lady has an impact on our attitudes. Some words of wisdom:

“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself; for I have learned that the greater part of our misery or happiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.”

Martha Washington

"Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of husbands. Remember all men would be tyrants if they could."

Abigail Adams

"I don't really feel like I have to have a debate with my husband over issues."
Laura Bush

All of us driven by a simple belief that the world as it is just won't do; that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be.

Michelle Obama
