Online Town Hall

I should have announced this yesterday. President Obama is hosting an open for questions online session today. If you missed it, I am sure there will be recordings of it available online. I will add that link if I find it. GO here if you are in time to see it live:

Library Hours: closed for an hour tomorrow

The library here in Del Norte will host a meeting with the College of the Redwoods President tomorrow from noon to 1pm. The library will be closed during that time. Lucky for you, the writing lab is open during that time, so any studying, computer usage or questions you have about research can be directed to the student working there.

There may be some chair setting up in the hour or so before the meeting. The writing lab is open on Monday from 3-5pm, on Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 2pm and on Friday with Claudia from 9:30-12:30 and from 1-5. Come in and see us!

Spring Break

Next week is spring break. There will be no classes from March 16 to March 20, but the campus will still be open.

This means the library will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

If your professor gave you an assignment to do over break, we are here for you. If you need a book to read to get your mind off your classes for a day or two, we have those too.

Regular hours resume on March 23.

Photography websites

There are a lot of wonderful resources online which cover the subject of photography and I thought I would share some with you.

This first one shows a brief timeline of different photographic methods and examples of each one.

Just got a new digital camera? Try a short course here to learn all about it.

Just love great art and photography? While on campus, try the library ArtStor database, with almost a million images you can use in your projects and school reports!

Taxes due in 6 weeks

If you have not done your taxes yet, this is your 6 week warning.

There are several ways you can submit your taxes. You can use the paper forms from the post office, you can hire an accountant or tax company to do it for you, or you can do it yourself for free online. This is called e-file and several companies have agreed to file taxes online for free for certain taxpayers, depending on income restrictions and sometimes age restrictions. Go to the IRS website to find some companies that will e-file for free.

You do not have to pay to submit your state taxes, that can be done for free at the California Taxes Website. Don't put it off too long or both governments will start to charge you fees and interest.
